Default bellagio 50/100 live vs Jamie Gold

50/100 game at the bellagio...we basically sat down a few minutes earlier...i am sitting with about 22k and jamie slightly covers...

i know people are probably going to hate preflop - and i understand this sentiment...i was trying to get a feel for the table since we all just sat down...also, preflop i missed whether gold made a minraise or if he straddled (yes, bad...and uncharacteristic)...anyways,

gold makes it 200 UTG, i call with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]...2 more callers and the bb completes..pot to the flop is 1100

Flop - K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

jamie checks, i bet 1000...everyone folds to jamie who calls

pot 3100...turn is the 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

jamie immediately leads for 3k...i think for a minute and make it 10k...jamie looks at me and says "you make it 10k?" and then turns to the dealer and says "he made it 10k? Ok, i call" in that frantic sort of Jamie Gold way...

pot is now 23,100...before the river card is dealt, Jamie says "I'm just going to go all in"...river is the 2d

comments on the hand? what range of hands do we put jamie on?

LOL Jamie is hilarious

I think preflop is fine occasionally. I hate your turn raise and I think you should've just called the turn (and probably called most rivers.

As played I insta muck. I hate to give Gold credit for being any sort of smart, but he should have learned by now that his style and demeanor provokes a lot of loose calls. Plus, he is the world champ, and unless he knows you are good, he could think you just want to bust him for a story (this may sound retarded but Moneymaker, Hachem, and Raymer have all said that this is true beyond a doubt).

The difference is that Jamie Gold is horrible, and who knows if he would even pick up on something as simple as that.... though I could be mistaken.

OP, by the end of the session, what were your thoughts on Gold's play?

gold's game is breakeven at best in a vacuum...and he also has a bad reputation, which at times does get him a lot more loose action...i understand how he can accumulate chips quickly in a tourney...and how he sometimes wins in cash games because no one wants to lose a hand to a guy like him...but he's not necessarily "easy"to beat...yes over time you can run him over...

as for preflop, i generally raise 90% of time...but i didnt here...maybe if had been one hand later, i would have...also, rerasing in this game did not mean i was isolating gold...more likely it meant everyone knew gold would call, so there would be a couple of unknown players calling behind me...so yes, i would have position on gold, but probably would have played a big hand with AK out or position against most of the field...

for all you guys who say you hate getting all your money in with a hand like AK with one pair, i think you are missing the point...i felt very good about being ahead of his range and wanted to charge him...i feel my mistake here was more that i didnt raise bigger - not that i should have called and had to make a decision on over half the deck being a scary river...i, and my opponents, generally know i make very thin decisions and will put the money in based on them...sometimes thats bad, but it also gets me paid off a lot..

He said something when he was on HSP about he always plays 32- with some kind of comment like "I know it's usually a stupid play, but I swear it hits a lot."

u have 22k.. and u put half ur stack in on the turn, with lots of draws out, and now you want to fold? fwiw, if i butchered the hand this bad, i would call the river 2d for SURE.

i actually dont mind preflop at all. against jamie i call, you dont understand how crazy/retarded he is. he makes bluffs when he has absolutely no fold equity. your play though, i probably just call his turn bet and let him hang himself on the river.
