In the pond (HG) with Frond
4/8 @ Hawaiian Gardens @ a pretty nice table. NO PF raisers, except us. Lots of chasing, lots of crap showdowns. (Hey, Frond, did you notice how FEW crap showdowns occurred with either of US in the hand? Like ZERO!!)
In any event, here is a hand that tests what you would do against a well known opponent. I am on the Button and Frond is 2 seats on my right. 3 players limp before him and Frond Raises. I am on the Button ATo. Your action? Fold, call or go 3? If you can, be detailed about why you choose that action. And if you think you know my style, would my action be any different? (Yes, you can assume I chose to play "for real" and not mess with my friend...this time.) PS while Frond was having a good time, I went 0 for 10 in PF raises connecting with the board, AA lost 2 out of 3 times, too and I ONLY lost 1/2 a rack. This table had potential that I left untapped. |

i instamuck pf. ATs is closer. i wouldn't think he's raising 3 limpers too light. if he was openraising you might have something to talk about.

Re: In the pond (HG) with Frond
Too easy. 3 mucks and we're out. Figured the only hand I could beat was KQo but was p.o.'ed about getting raised out of a juicy hand and position. And I got raised out TWICE in the same session by Frond with me holding the identical ATo hand.

I did switch and moved a few seats so I could have you as close to my left as I could .

Re: In the pond (HG) with Frond
And his position was not optimal to ty something against 3 limpers. Also, some of these limpers were time bombs because they uniformly were NOT PF raising premium hands.
James, you hit a valuable distinction on the issue of suitage. I would have stayed in with ATs facing 6+ on the Button with a nut flush draw. While I'm not thrilled about possibly being dominated on the big card side of my hand, I have enough players on the flush draw side and I have the Button, so with that many opponents and position, I would cold call, but not 3 bet my flush draw PF. |
