Meh.
During the winter it'll help keep your muscles warm so you maybe can run a little longer/harder, but I doubt they have a significant impact. |

Yeah it's good to keep warm when running in cold weather, but making yourself sweat more is not +EV unless you're a boxer trying to make weight.

I like to wear sweats & sweatshirt over my gym clothes and I'll do my warmup in the sweats so that I get all warm and loose, then take them off to workout.

You'll be hotter and sweat more. Probably around the same advantage as wearing a lot of clothes all the time.
