Adults dupe teen into MySpace-assisted suicide
Link
It gets kinda complicated, since the reporter doesn't name names, so here's how it went down in bullet-point form: 1. Two teenage girls strike up a friendship, then eventually one, Megan Meier, breaks it off. 2. The jilted friend's family creates a fake MySpace profile of a cute boy, eventually getting other teens in the neighborhood in on the "joke." 3. The fake profile becomes friends with Megan and then basically trainwrecks her. 4. Megan hanged herself in the closet. What the [censored] is wrong with people? They knew that Megan had a history with depression, and basically set out to destroy her life. And there's nothing the law can do about it. |

Wrongful death lawsuit here? Otherwise I guess it's family feud time.

OOT has done similar [/ QUOTE ] I like how everybody here seems to be ignoring this, when it's definitely true that OOT seems to have a love for trainwrecks that could definitely [censored] with people's heads. The parents of the other girl are scum. But I think the concept of a lawsuit here is silly, and I find it bizarre how a crowd which frequently enjoys being dicks on the internet (and deriding people who take it seriously) can think otherwise. If being a dick to people is grounds for a lawsuit, I think a lot of us better stop posting here. (EDIT: Seriously, even if the bad guys knew about her depressive tendencies, I don't think it would be a very good argument, and there's a very strong chance they didn't. Why would they know that she had tried to kill herself before?) |
