Chris Moneymaker sighting
Yesterday, I went up to my local casino: Creek Nation Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. When I walked in to the poker room, I took a glance over to seat 1, did a double take, and verified that 2003 WSOP Champ Chris Moneymaker was indeed the gentleman in the 5 seat. Apparently, Chris owns a gaming company, also affiliated with Barry Switzer (coached OU to multiple nat'l titles, OK state idol), and they are trying to get some video poker-type games into the casino. So the casino gave him some $$ to donk off at the table (only 2 tables of 1/2 NL running at noon on Wednesday), and he joked around for about 1 1/2 hours before busting out with K-high flush draw against A-high flush draw (neither improved, $500+ pot at 1/2 NL with A-high). He seemed polite and friendly and signed several autographs, though a seat never opened up on his table. Anyway, that's what counts for excitement in Tulsa.
And now for some gossip: apparently, Chris makes about $7-8 million a year off of this gaming company. Someone said that they had read about it in an article I think. Well I guess if the poker thing doesn't work out... |

making $7,000,000 a year off a gambling venture on top of the $2,000,000 i banked winning the WSOP ME.... maybe, just maybe, I'm not so motivated to knock myself out trying to be the gonzo best poker player in da world any more ???? especially with how competitive and obsessive the players are nowadays... possible? |

[/ QUOTE ] Spot on.. and I dont think he minds if he looks like a donk when he plays in a PS $22+R or a casino when he dusts off a few buyins. He is just there to give people a good time and thats good for business.. If he really has kicked his gambling problem he should be set for life |

Re: Chris Moneymaker sighting
i would agree he is smarter than most of the pro's, he's made quite a bit of money off of moneymaker gaming who he partnered with eric bischoff who used to run the wresting company, as we know that industry is huge, Plus he's never claimed to be a great player but i bet he manages his money better than anyone,

Re: Chris Moneymaker sighting
couple of other things:
1. he was sighted at another casino across town (no surprise) 2. i read his book for some stupid reason and he had a bad sports betting problem. overall he kinda seemed like a degen. maybe he has gotten better about that tho. |

Re: Chris Moneymaker sighting
I spotted him in a PS $22+R yesterday, where his king high flush draw outdrew an ace high flush draw, a few hours in. Not very interesting, but whatever lol. Oh he also told railers he rebought once, and a good friend of mine said he got stacked 4/5 times, including a 9K all in with Q9o(presume he only lost 1.5K/3K) Oh and he made final two tables.
Note to self: Stop noticing things that make me sound like a degen railbird. |
