Firefox is SO SLOW, even IE is faster
A week ago I noticed that everything loads very slowly when im browsing using Firefox (v 2.0). Youtube videos take forever to load, and the same goes for heavy pages with lots of pictures.
I thought something was wrong with my ISP, but I just tried Internet Explorer and everything is so much smoother. I tried loading the same youtube video on both FF and IE, and the difference is huge. Also, i tried downloading Firefoc v1.5 but nothing changes. Anyone who can help? Thanks in advance! |

Re: Firefox is SO SLOW, even IE is faster
What extensions do you have installed? Have you enabled pipelining?

Re: Firefox is SO SLOW, even IE is faster
You shouldn't need to change any default settings to get pages to load the same speed (or faster) than IE.
Disable all your extensions, clear out the temp internet files and cache files, and then try again. You may need to reboot the CPU. If that doesn't work, install a fresh copy of Firefox (transfer over bookmarks only - if possible skip this step for later after firefox is reinstalled), and then re-start your computer and try again. If neither of these work, Mozilla has a great support forum to help you out. |

Re: Firefox is SO SLOW, even IE is faster
No problem. There might have been some bad/corrupted temporary files / cache files Firefox was getting caught up in reading while loading some pages. Try adding the extensions back one-by-one and see if everything still is okay.

Old news: Opera > IE > Firefox (when it comes to speed).

Great... except that doesn't figure out why he's having the problem he does. It's not exactly typical for common pages like YouTube to be dramatically slower on Firefox than on IE.
