Converting Equity into EV (quick math at the table) ??
I bet $30. Opponent pushes all-in for $115 total.
I now have to call $85 to win $145. Assume i know his cards and i have 30% equity here. What is the quickest and most convenient method to figure out whether this is a call or fold? |

Re: Converting Equity into EV (quick math at the table) ??
85/(85+30+115) = 37%
This call is -EV (30%<37%) unless he is a good player or the chips you gain will help u substantially. |

Is that the easiest way to do the calculation? Suppose you are at a live game, do you just run the 85/230 in your head?

I don't really use the math to that detail. I'd just think about 33% against a ___ type of player, call or fold. Most people use odds. Think like this getting 1.75:1 when I'm 2.25:1 is -EV.
