More Bobo Situational Puzzles
A baseball pitcher is beating the Yankees 5-0. He has only given up 3 singles and 1 walk through 8 innings. In the 9th inning the 3rd baseman fields a ground ball and his throw to 1st sails into the stands. The next 3 batters all double off the wall.
The manager/catcher made a mound visit but the pitcher isn't removed. When the pitcher goes back to work he throws a wild pitch way outside. He still isn't removed. His next 2 pitches miss just outside. He then throws 3 straight pitches on the outisde corner for the 3rd out. What happened during the mound visit? |

Re: More Bobo Situational Puzzles
1. At any point during the game did the manager think it might be beneficial for his team to lose the game?
2. When the pitcher intentionally threw the wild pitch did a runner advance from 2nd to 3rd? 3. Did the manager think that the wild pitch would help his team win the game? 4. Was the pitcher trying to get the batters out when he gave up the 3 doubles? 5. Was the decision to throw a wild pitch made because it might improve someone's (or the team's) stats? Was the team using stall tactics to see if another team won before deciding whether to try to win the game? If it's the last game of the season, it might be beneficial to lose the game to affect the playoff brackets. |
