Default 100/200: big call down

I know this is very read dependant but hopefully it will spark some discussion. Villian is gus hansen and is very capable of running a bluff. My image is tight solid. Comments welcome on all streets. I will answer any read questions as they come up.

what do you think gus is doing this with?? total air..missed draw?? it does seem to me like he really wants you to fold throughout the hand...i hope this call worked out bc it would be total ownage...

By the time you get to the river his hand has defined itself into 3 states - he is bluffing; he *thinks* he is bluffing but has the best hand, i.e. he has just caught a K; he has a very strong hand and having a read on you, or knowing what you think of him, he has decided you will pay off the max.I suspect that if you cut these probabilites up and slice them, then this is probably a river call, although AA would be *much* better if just to remove the paired K wildcard.

However, when he bets the turn you don't know he is going to define his hand so strongly on the river. He could just have a run of the mill beating you kind of hand at this point and you can't really know this. So I think that calling the turn is a big mistake.

Good point it would really suck to call and lose having him hit the king.

I agree I should have passed either the turn or flop. Even if he has a miedocre draw he will have more equity than me.

I think overall this was a bad spot to take a stand, and your reasoning is right on.

I don't really see how this call down can be made unless you think he is on a pure flush draw. Unless you can tell me what the read was I'm going to assume this was dumb luck (assuming you won). Does he lead with flush draws and check raise here with a better hand?

I felt like he would not lead with a monster. But I didn't have any real reads on it just kinda what I thought.

I don't know. I want to say that I had this all figured out but I just kinda got a feeling he had air and went into call down mode. I think I woudl have called any river bet.
