Default Decent but not great hand on the button with several limpers

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed) internettexasholdem.com

CO (t1500)
Hero (t1490)
SB (t1480)
BB (t1300)
UTG (t1300)
UTG+1 (t1930)
MP1 (t1500)
MP2 (t1500)
MP3 (t1500)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG+1 calls t20, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP2 calls t20, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero...

This situation always perplexes me. I want to blow things up with a raise and take it down right there but at lower level SNGs people will call even a high raise early and out of position with a wide variety of holdings (and of course the blinds can wake up with a legitimate hand here). If I miss the flop, I am commiting a lot of chips with a margial hand. Folding seems extremely weak also so I have been calling in these kinds of situations - AT, AJ, sometimes even AQ, pockets up to 99. I would get away from TPTK with heavy action if need be and I still lose less than if I raised but I can win these kinds of hands enough thanks to position where I think calling is better than folding although I do not have data to back that up and it would be a small sample size regardless. What do the great SNG minds here do in such cases?

I did say "lower level SNGs" however to be more specific, I mean $5+.50 through $20+2.

I usually fold this and limp suited. What do you think is your EV of playing AJo here? I doubt it's that much. I want to keep myself out of possibly tricky situations (for me) and just play the better hands strong. There's no need to go after small edges at the early levels of a low buy-in STT, keeping it simple is good enough.

^ Likewise. And I am limping 22-TT in this spot, raising JJ+ and AK probably to 100
