One of Canada\'s greatest artists is gone
Ken Danby passed away yesterday. Fittingly enough, doing what he loved: canoeing in the wilderness. He had an amazing porfolio but he was best known by many for his sports pictures. I have this print in my home:

Re: One of Canada\'s greatest artists is gone
wtf? he wasn't even that old, was he? like sixty? definitely before his time.
danby was very sick at what he did. you can stare at many of his paintings and swear they are photographs. never recognized by the art world, but definitely a master at what he did. he will be missed. [i]edit: just looked it up. he was 67. still very mobile and whatnot, as evidenced by him canoeing. really too bad. |
