Live recreational LHE player here. I play approx 2-3 times a week. Just recently moved up from 3/6 to 4/8 live. Not because I was killing the game but for reasons such as the rake effect, tips. Anyways, for the past 5 or so months I have been so card dead that when I get a good starting hand such as a big PP it surprises me and I get a kind of weak with these hands. I guess I am so used to being so card dead now for this stretch that it has affected my post flop play. I am staying very disciplined through this stretch but it is getting to the point that when I sit down and play I almost expect to be card dead yet again. I guess my confidence has taken a dumper. Wonder what some of you who have gone through these stretches do to stay on your "A" game. I know that some of you are going to say "welcome to poker, this happens to me all the time" but this has been going on for quite a while. I have had 2 pretty good sessions in the last 5 months and it was when I made my first jump to 4/8. Much before that and since the jump it has been dead city. My losing sessions are not huge nor are my winning sessions. Paging the poker shrink

just remember you're only getting in like 30 hands/hr live. And online, breakeven streaks (for winning players) of like 40k hands is very common.

Yea, I spoke to a friend about this but I am not playing online any more, just live play. But I did consider that.

You may have more of this to look forward to. After 3 months of running like sh*t, it still sucks. Did you ever read Josh W's post/thread? Here ya go: Joshs thread b |

Yea, I feel for Josh. My bad starting card down swing has begun to affect my play when I actually get a hand. His is pretty brutal for sure. Theoretically, this could go on for a lot longer. On the upside there are things I can work on during this spell: Chip Shuffling, superstar impressions, and finish the latest Michael Connolly novel.

Especially given that I'm on a hellacious run right now myself. Btw...Mine's going on about 3 months now. b |

Finally booked a win today of about 15 BBs and although not huge it was a positive confidence booster for me right now. Just what I needed for all the time and practice I've been putting in lately. Mentally it feels good when you win several hands and they play out the way that you have been practicing them.

I only played live in a 14 day vegas vacation. Played a lot and my friend tooo. In my personal opinion low stakes limit is hard to win tips ,horrible rake, and tipps for the drinks make it more or less a break even game. On the next vacation we play NL or min 10/20 limit.

I think nearly all of us have been through 10k + hand crap streaks, hope yours doesnt last that long, keep playing correct, and the cards will come, remember at the level your playing, you can open your play range to 30% successfully if you master the postflop warzone of low limit hold em...

It's easy to win when you are running hot. I think the biggest effect on winrate is how you play when you are losing not when you are winning.
