Did I play this hand badly?
I'm playing 9 handed 100 nl on Stars. This guy raises 5x bb and I call with 3-2 suited. I just read Super System and Brunson says he looks to get 10% of his money in with suited connectors. So I say to myself I'm going to play like Doyle. Flop comes Ah 5s 9c. He bets 1/2 pot and I call cause I remember Doyle sayin' he's gonna raise on the turn no matter what card comes. Any chance I get I'll put that tight player ALL IN!!! Just like Doyle. Turn is the Jd. He bets the pot and I raise ALL IN!! He calls really quickly and the river is a 4. I win the pot as he turns over pocket aces. He calls me a f'n donk. Did anyone ever say that to Doyle? I told him I read Doyle's book and I look to get my money ALL IN whenever I get the chance. Did I play this hand well or not?

Re: Did I play this hand badly?
That is not what Doyle says, not even close. You need to put that book in the bathroom and read a chapter every day. When you've read that book 4 or 5 times you might just begin to absorb it. This is no big deal for a serious student of the game. You've got so much to learn I doubt anybody can think of a place to start. Really you should invest in Skalansky's Holdem Poker and start there. Also, if your playing with a screen name like that, it's telling your competition too much about you. It's telling them your sex (male), young age (13 to 18 maybe) and lack of experience (almost none). Even a donk can read right though that with pretty good accuracy.

Re: Did I play this hand badly?
You played great, that guy who lost to you was just an ABC moron who does not understand the finer aspects of the game.

Re: Did I play this hand badly?
That play was absolutely horrible.
You misread Doyle completely. You need to raise all-in on the flop. That way, you give him an opportunity to fold his three aces and avoid possibly losing that pot, which was cleary yours, to a lucky full house. |

Re: Did I play this hand badly?
He knows it is poor play and is winding you lot up. Unless he read that book by Boyle Drunson
