Default When to move up to 2-5

I've been making a pretty meger living (about $15 per hour) playing 1-2 NL in Vegas for about 7 months now.

My question is whether I should starting playing 2-5. I have the bankroll, but what is holding me back is knowing that I still have some areas I could improve. I don't value bet the river enough and just yesterday, I flopped top pair with AK and overplayed it...twice.

If I move up now, I risk making the same mistakes I'm making now for more money. But if I refuse to move up until I think I'm playing perfect, I probably won't ever move up.

I know there aren't really any clear cut rules about when to move up a level, but I was wondering if anyone had some general advice.

thanks.

I think that you need to spot the areas that need improvement and work on them at 1/2. Take some time and work on them, because if you don't feel your ready your probably not. Because if you mess up at 2/5 in the same areas at 1/2, it will cost you twice as much. So once you feel you fixed your leaks move up and try it for a while. But if your a solid winning player at 1/2, and you fix them few areas, I think you will do very well.

Whenever I take a shot at a new limit, I set aside 4-5 buy-ins for the sole purpose of playing that limit. If I lose those buy-ins, I drop back down without a second thought (well normally I think something like "[censored] that"...but I still move down).

Sometimes, all it takes is a running a lil hot when you move up to a new limit.

Thanks for the advice all. I'll probably spend one more month grinding it out at 1-3 at the Wynn to qualify for their freeroll tournament and then consider moving up.

Yes, I only play live games now. I use to play low limit online before I moved out to Vegas, but as soon as I started sitting in those live games in Vegas, it's been hard for me to go back to online.

As far as who's better at the 12 nl level (online or live players), I think most everyone here would agree with me that it's not even close.

Yes, I have been grinding it out at 1-2 and 1-3 for 7 months and the reason I'm able to do that and still have big holes in my game is because compared to online play, 12nl in Las Vegas is f-ing joke.
