We got a call from Gavin Smith last night saying that Erick Lindgren accepted a $100,000 prop bet with the following rules:
:: He had to play four rounds of golf at Bear's Best in one day. :: He had to walk all four rounds back-to-back-to-back-to-back. :: He'd be shooting from the pro tees. :: He had to shoot under 100 on all rounds. Within 15 minutes, Phil Ivey added another $200k to the bet, and with a few others jumping in since, the total is now close to $350k. More on it at WCP As of about an hour or so ago Lindgren had completed the first round successfully. |

Yeah. And after hitting that many balls his arms will be dead. Never mind that he will have been walking around in the 110 degree Nevada sunshine for 12+ hours. I once played 2 back to back rounds at PGA West when it was 105, with a cart, and was exhausted near the end.

D [/ QUOTE ] Can you explain this to somebody who's been at all involved in golf? I take it'll be tough since he'll just be exhausted by the end.. or what? [/ QUOTE ] Pretty much. If his average score is 88 on a normal day, just playing one round, its not uncommon to shoot 5 strokes above or below that. So a 93 is very possible even w/o playing 4 rounds. Add in fatigue due to 110+ weather, and the fact that he has to carry his clubs and his back will be a knot on that last 18. I would guess that this will add about 10 strokes. Plus, most "nice" courses in the West take 4+ hours to play in a cart b/c they are very spread out. So we're talking 16 hours of golf w/o talking in consideration bathroom, eating, water, slow play from other golfers, etc.... D |
