Default AKs in a 3bet pot, line check

NL50 6max prima

villain is unknown
villain has 45$ stack i cover

folded to BTN who raises to 3$
Hero in SB raises A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] to 9.5$
BTN calls

flop is 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

On a drier board, and esp. in position, I might check these sometimes. However, I'd bet this flop.

So I'm wrong for thinking his range is basicly JJ+, AK here?

Yeah, I think that's wrong. All he did was open-raise on the button and call a reraise. I'd assume a much wider range -- things like pocket pairs and many suited hands are definitely in there.

Isn't the question here 'What range does he have YOU on?'

If it's 99+, AQs+, then the K may not be so scary, no?

If you only 3-bet AK+, QQ+ then yah ok his range may narrow somewhat.

I've been 3-betting 99+, AQs+ in 6-max lately. And I've called a re-raise with 55 (and stacked QQ). If he missed the flop you're getting nothing anyway... why give him draws to his marginal hand?

I agree with this. Pot is plenty big and hero is OOP with TPTK. No reason to get fancy or give free cards. This hand becomes more fun if hero has TT-QQ.
