Hip Hop is Dead - Nas
Dear Nas
Congratulations on creating a great album. As on all albums there are some pretty weak tracks. But there are more good ones. You need to thank your producers for creating some really sick tracks. Your colaborations with other MCs (like JayZ and Snoop) aren't excessive and actually add to the overall album experience. I particularly love the Dr. Dre track. Sincerely, THeBlueMonster ps. your flow is quite nice |

These days some albums have 9 or 10 good tracks, but they add on 5 or 6 filler crap tracks with it. 10/10 > 10/16 |

Obviously the discerning listener will appreciate 10/10 more than 10/16, but the ordinary consumer expects 16 tracks and could care less if 6 of them are crap or even skits. The ordinary consumer does some dumb calculation in their head where tracks divided by cost equals worth, so more tracks equal a better value. Shouldn't matter this day and age, and it doesn't for me since I put everything on my ipod and just cut out the skits/intros/bad songs. |

Re: Hip Hop is Dead - Nas
I've recently been getting back into rap, took a long break from listening. Old wu albums, illmatic, cormega, big l. I cant seem to find that gritty style that was around in the 90's. I like some of the new stuff, but never enough to go out and buy the album.

I just realized (pointed out by my brother) that the sample they use in the song "Black Republican" is from the Godfather II
