It allows you to run XP or Vista in a window on Mac OS X. It and VMWare are fairly revolutionary in that they have the potential to undermine the Window's monopoly by making the OS that your application runs under meaningless. It also will let you run Window's apps without seeing Windows. It is debatable which OS is better but you wouldn't think Mac OS X has 85 to 90 percent less market share by using it. And there isn't anything quite like it for the PC, although VMWare might go both ways.

But you still can't legally run OS X on on non-apple hardware.

Incidentally, VMWare is still 'supposed' to put out a free virtualization product for OSX.
