$12 180 man turbos
Does anyone have any advice on how to win these turbo tourneys on Stars? I usually play TAG, but with these tourneys should I be more lose as the blinds eat up your stack much faster?

Re: $12 180 man turbos
this is really a crapshooting
you have nearly no FE, so pick your spots and try to double up. never bluff - nearly every hand gets called. when there are about 20 players left the blinds are so high that it's like playing roulette. use pushbot tables - these help a lot when your M goes under 10. I have tried some of them, but i'm not sure what the ROI for a really good player is there - maybe you can make some money, but the luck-factor is awfully. |

piper...I've been winning a fair number of these...advice...don't get nuts early...once the blinds and antes are significant loosen up...biggest advice is don't waste money on pots unless you are reasonably sure you will go all the way...more so than regular tournaments you have to pick spots wisely and commit to them...there is high variance so you will get knockedout of a lot early but when you get deep realize that most people are scared of high blinds and attack...
Biggest thing is the old adage...you need a stronger hand to bet than you need to call...I fold KJ'sh hands all the time but will open pots lighter... keep playing them..they are soft and winnable but do not play them passively |

Re: $12 180 man turbos
When it gets to 200/400 level and later, it becomes profitable to start widening your PFR range of hands, you can really accumulate a nice stack by raising position at this point and getting into some steal/resteal situations. As other posters said, getting crazy and playing anything but TAG in the beginning would likely be a mistake.

flat...I've tried getting a little more aggressive but until it gets close to the money you will get called light so value plays are better...you just need to mae a decision on your hand vs ranges and go with it...reads kill me and make me at the mid stages...
As a general rule never fold AQ+ or 88+ unless you are sure cause people are not smart!!! |

Not sure if you've seen shaundeeb's guide to 180s:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...807&page=0 He crushes these. |

Re: $12 180 man turbos
shaundeep's guide isn't for the 12/180 turbos.
these are relative new on poker-stars - the guide was written for the good old ones with a much slower blind-structure. |
