check for pot control and to allow those with less to bet out. Betting only folds out hands worse than yours at this point

Re: 50NL - AQ - pot is getting biiiig
I'm curios if you have pahud or pt? I think this may give a better idea of the players tendencies.
I think you need to check here. you have contributed about 1/5th of your stack and any bets are going to commit you to the hand. you need to decide on the flop what your best turn action is going to be. the turn blanked and I can't see any players playing AA/KK this way to often. if the player behind me bets and the other player folds, I think commiting here against one player is fine. if he bets and the other player calls I will let my one pair hand go and pick a better spot. if it checks around I will fire one third on the river or call a small bet. EDIT: I've read a few of your posts and I suggest you pick up a copy of Professional No Limit Holdem. its going to answer a lot of the questions that your asking about when to commit. |

Re: 50NL - AQ - pot is getting biiiig
I check with the intention of CRAI if BTN bets and SB folds, and betting if it gets checked back to me on the river, or calling a reasonable bet by SB on the river.
Looking over the responses after I wrote that, my reaction is very similar to Dream's. |

Re: 50NL - AQ - pot is getting biiiig
Reads are pretty vital here.
If SB is a fish I'm going to felt it, if he's tricky or good I'll probably c/f because his flop check/overcall on this board is pretty damn scary, and button won't bet again without a very strong hand. If button is an aggrotard then checking turn exploits your position on SB while allowing you to CRAI if SB folds. |

I'm actually not too worried about BTN, it's the SB overcall that scares the [censored] out of me.

I think its a good time to go for pot control. There was one draw and it already filled.
