Which past contestants have seen decent success?
List all contestants (not just the winners) who have had a decent record deal/career from all the past shows. I also am interested in other success (for instance Hudsons oscar).
Also, if you know, please list what number they went out in? In other words, how many people were left when they got booted? Thanks! |

William Hung is the 11th most successful recording artist to come out of American Idol. That's pretty sweet.

lol, outside of clarkson they all have had zero success with follow up albums. (obviously they all haven't had followup albums but the numbers are still pretty shocking. specifically aikens)

I'm most surprised with Fantasia's success, although in retrospect that was a weird season and from what I saw I didn't like her that much. Elliot and Katherine from last year just released albums according to this and both have sold well to start. |

Wow, when Simon said Carrie would go on to sell more records than any previous Idol winner, I thought he was nuts.
Guess he was right. As usual... |

BTW Elliott Yamin's new album debuts at #3 on the Billboard Charts this week. Pretty good considering he didn't even get an Idol record deal - it was an independent release.

[/ QUOTE ] I was reading the Allmusic review on this (dunno why, I would never buy it but he was my favorite contestant last year) and the whole thing was just lamenting the fact that he didn't win because he would have put out a really good album with all that help. Instead, America got a crummy Taylor album and a so-so Elliot album, whereas Allmusic believes that with some better help Elliot would have put out a really really good album. |

Did anyone see Elliot Yamin on Jimmy Kimmel last night? I've never seen someone sweat like that when they weren't in an actual sauna. It was hilarious -- he was dripping buckets like a stuck pig, just drenched.

Listening to Yamin's album on Rhapsody... I like R&B, this is pretty meh. Couple decent ballads, and the track "Movin' On" is pretty tight. I bet with more talented producers he puts out a better album
I really like his voice - here is imo his best performance from last year's Idol: Yamin on Idol - "Moody's Mood For Love" -Al |
