Every year it's crazy to think about the amount of talent that could be in this tournament, but is now in the NBA, NBDL, overseas, working at McDonalds, in jail, and so on. What would the end of this tournament look like if these guys were all still in school? I guess that largely would be defined by where the 22 straight to NBA players decided to go to school. Plus there are 7 players (by my count) who came from teams who made it to the Sweet 16 this year.
Seniors: LeBron James - N/A Travis Outlaw - N/A Ndudi Ebi - N/A Kendrick Perkins - N/A James Lang - N/A Luol Deng - Duke Kris Humphries - Minnesota Trevor Ariza - UCLA Andrew Bogut - Utah Chris Paul - Wake Forest Charlie Villanueva - UConn Linas Kleiza - Missouri Brandon Bass - LSU Von Wafer - Florida St. Chris Taft - Pitt Sean Banks - Memphis Olu Famutimi - Arkansas Deji Akindele - Chicago St. Adam Morrison - Gonzaga Ronnie Brewer - Arkansas Quincy Douby - Rutgers Renaldo Balkman - South Carolina Marcus Williams - UConn Josh Boone - UConn Shannon Brown - Michigan St. PJ Tucker - Texas Alexander Johnson - Florida St. Paul Millsap - Louisiana Tech Guillermo Diaz - Miami JR Pinnock - George Washington Will Blalock - Iowa St. Thomas Gardner - Missouri Marcus Slaughter - San Diego St. Curtis Stinson - Iowa St. Juniors: Dwight Howard - N/A Shaun Livingston - N/A Robert Swift - N/A Sebastian Telfair - N/A Al Jefferson - N/A Josh Smith - N/A JR Smith - N/A Dorell Wright - N/A Jackie Butler - N/A Marvin Williams - UNC LeMarcus Aldridge - Texas Rudy Gay - UConn Patrick O'Bryant - Bradley Cedric Simmons - NC State Rajon Rondo - Kentucky Kyle Lowry - Villanova Jordan Farmar - UCLA Daniel Gibson - Texas Leon Powe - California Darius Washington - Memphis Sophomores: Martell Webster - N/A Andrew Bynum - N/A Gerald Green - N/A CJ Miles - N/A Monta Ellis - N/A Louis Williams - N/A Andray Blatche - N/A Amir Johnson - N/A Tyrus Thomas - LSU Shawne Williams - Memphis 34 seniors, 20 juniors, and 10 sophomores that still could be in school. Feel free to chime in if you know where some of the HS guys would have went if they didn't jump, if they committed anywhere. UConn would probably be a factor with Villanueva, M. Williams, and Boone. Memphis could add Banks, Washington, and S. Williams to their already pretty good team. UCLA could have Ariza and Farmar. Think Texas could have beat USC with Tucker, Aldridge, and Gibson on the roster? Oh well, still a pretty good tournament. |

I believe Lebron was going to Ohio St if he didn't declare for the draft (not that there was any doubt he was skipping college). tOSU wouldn't be as balanced as some of the other teams, but Lebron and Oden could dominate, and Conley and some shooters would be pretty good.

[/ QUOTE ] There's too many "what ifs". Would Oden and Conley go to OSU when they already have a bona fide superstar, or would they go to a school where they could be the standouts? |

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/si...al_round_1.html CNNSI did this. [/ QUOTE ] Damn them. Nice link, obviously I don't read SI. UConn ends up with a pretty good team too. I missed Gay in the original post, and SI says Bynum was going there: C - Bynum (So) PF - Boone (Sr) SF - Villanueva (Sr) SG - Gay (Jr) PG - Williams (Sr) Instead of whoever started for them this year, pretty loaded and experienced. But yeah, UNC and Ohio St looking pretty stacked too. Nice to dream. |

Wouldn't Carmelo be a senior this year? [/ QUOTE ] Nope, he's one year older than this group. He'd be a NBA rookie this year, if he stayed for 4. |

Kendrick Perkins - Memphis [/ QUOTE ] Lol at celtics. memphis would have been pretty damn good, considering they lost 3 first round picks and are still back in the elite 8, and Texas with Aldridge would be too. I also think about UVA if Gillen hadnt been fired, then if you negate the transfers, the team would have been G - Sean Singletary G - JR Reynolds G/F - Derrick Byars F - Donte Minter C - Jason Cain This team would have been great, like villanova last couple years. |

LeBron at Ohio State pretty much gives them the title, I think.
Texas would be very good with Aldridge, Gibson, Tucker and Durant. Wow. Where was Dwight Howard going to go? |
