You decide. Good/Bad Move @ $25NL
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) internettexasholdem.com
CO ($100.30) Button ($6.40) Hero ($51) BB ($86.05) UTG ($49.25) MP ($60.40) First, let's try a standard SB --> BB steal. Preflop: Hero is SB with 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 4 folds, Hero raises to $2, BB raises to $6.5, Hero calls $4.50. Oops. That didn't work, but, heck, I have an Ace. Let's see a flop. Flop: ($13) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, BB bets $9, Hero calls $9. Flop is weird. Seems coordinated and all and I have three other tables to worry about so it may seem more coordinated (in my favor) than it is, but villian is screaming an unrelated pair. Can we stack him if we hit? Me thinks so. Turn: ($31) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $35.5 (All-In), BB calls $35.50. Outs just increased a bazillion-fold. No way I'm letting him have this one. Pay for one last card or go away! May the best 5 card hand win. GL, sir. Well??? Onaflag............ |

Re: You decide. Good/Bad Move @ $25NL
dude, fold to the 3-bet PF. A5o can't stand a reraise OOP.

Dang, I got a lot to learn at this NL thing.
Looks like I'll be staying at $25 for a while. Onaflag........... Edit: Oops again. That was NL$50. Bankroll is much better than skill I guess. |

Re: You decide. Good/Bad Move @ $25NL
Preflop: Calling a reraise with A5o is the first huge mistake.
Flop: Calling that bet with a gutshot is the 2nd mistake. You don't have the pot odds to call. Turn: Once again, You don't have the pot odds to call the all-in. Your whole line is a proper way to loose money in the long run. |

Re: You decide. Good/Bad Move @ $25NL
Fold pre-flop. Pot odds are poor, implied odds (when including RIO) are terrible, out of position.
Flop. At first I thought we had a NFD and wondered why you didn't c-r, but then I realised the board was two to a flush, in which case why didn't you fold? Ok so you have bluffing outs, but we'll need to play well to get him to lay down what is probably a decent pocket pair (60%) or good overcards (40%) possibly including diamonds. Turn. Since we called, the all in is ok. Not great/not bad. Advantages are: we will def see river; it's a lot for him to call. Disadvantages are: looks fishy; we lose more if he calls. I think there is at least a 10% chance you are behind to a flush at this point. If you are prepared to commit your stack on this sort of hand in future you might think about mentally putting yourself all in but only bet smaller or c-r or do something more normal to maximise your FE (which I don't think is maximised by going all in here). If he fires back with a raise you can call all-in or you can fold. Calling the all in is no different to pushing assuming FE of the first action (push or 'value bet') is at least equal. (Correct?) In summary, I don't like it, but the bad move is made on the flop when you call a PSB with a bluff draw OOP. That's when you made the decision to play for your stack. In the absence of a good read I can't see how to justify this. Choose a better spot. Sorry to sound nittish, but this looks to me like a hand you were playing for pride after your PF steal attempt more than a well-timed bluff. |

Re: You decide. Good/Bad Move @ $25NL
Fold to the 3-bet preflop. Fold flop, your float isn't going to work. On the turn he isn't folding TT+, and I'd say his range is probably TT+, maybe AK, but I'm not sure he'd c-bet with that.

Re: You decide. Good/Bad Move @ $25NL
I'd fold every street.
[ QUOTE ] Oops. That didn't work [/ QUOTE ] yep, won't work everytime. you have to fold now. [ QUOTE ] villian is screaming an unrelated pair. Can we stack him if we hit? Me thinks so. [/ QUOTE ] this makes no sense. so when the turn comes a 4 he's stacking off with KQo? [ QUOTE ] Outs just increased a bazillion-fold [/ QUOTE ] The only thing you've got going for you on the turn is FE but I still hate it. I think villan has at least an overpair here a lot. |
