***Official 2007 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS THREAD ***
My God...it's full of Stars!
So new season, new coaching staff, but pretty much the same squad that went 14-2 only to fizzle out in the first round. A pair of new inside linebackers, perhaps some new guys in the secondary, and a possible comeback from a kick returner, but other than that, its the same squad that sent 11 guys to the Pro Bowl. Norv Turner replaces Marty, providing continuity in the offense and help with the development of the Rivers. However, there are legitimate doubts regarding his ability to actually be a good NFL head coach. We'll also see how the Bolts do with new coordinators on both sides of the ball. Gone too are Donnie Edwards and Randall Godfrey. Stephen Cooper and Matt Wilhelm are the new inside linebackers, sandwiched between Shaun and Shawne. In the secondary, rookie SS Eric Weddle and freaky 2nd year CB Antonio Cromartie are in the mix. Return specialist Darren Sproles looks to make a comeback from a broken leg that sidelined him all of last year. Sproles and Weddle looked good in the first preseason game vs. Seattle, a game which saw lots of Bolt mistakes. No big deal, pretty vanilla as you might expect, and no injuries. So in summary, Chargers rule, Raiders suck! Good night now!! |

Re: ***Official 2007 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS THREAD ***
Go Chargers!!
This is going to be a big year and really anything less than a super bowl will be a bit of a dissapointment. With such a stong line-up I hope that all of the changing in coaches will not affect the play, because pretty much all of the coaches are new this year. I predict a 13-3 season and a super bowl win, witha very difficult game vs the pats somewhere in the playoffs, but this time chargers take it down. |

I fear that losing Cameron will hurt significantly. His play-calling was simply brilliant.

Re: ***Official 2007 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS THREAD ***
I was at the Seattle game and really not much different than I expected.
My one note though, is that their play-action rollout is an unbelievable play especially when teams are keyed in on Tomlinson. Wide open all 3 times I saw them run it. |

Re: ***Official 2007 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS THREAD ***
Bolts have a sick roster, definitely anything short of winning Superbowl is a disappointment. No exploitable weakness. I really still don't know how they last to Pats. Outplayed 'em whole game but made a bunch of small, retarded mistakes that added up to a loss. Strange game.
IMO Phillip Rivers is/will be shortly an MVP calibur player, I've seen all of his pro games and he makes almost no mistakes. Very accurate deep, middle and short. Most just think it's Tomlinson's effect, I don't. Obviously he's great too. |

Re: ***Official 2007 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS THREAD ***
I didn't mention this guy, but the player to watch tonight vs. Rams for me is Rookie 1st round WR Craig Davis. I hear some good things about him from Rivers and LT interviews. Rivers likes his smarts, says he carries himself with confidence and he knows what to do. He also said that he cannot think of a pass that he has seen him drop yet. LT thinks that he is the kind of guy that can line up in the slot, run a 5 yard slant and take it 60 yards to the house.
So Davis wasn't on a lot of 1st round draft boards, but I think they got what they wanted, a good size, good speed, good hands slot receiver that can play from day one. A common set will see Jackson on his left, Parker and Gates across the way, and LT coming out of the backfield. Once they get clicking, should be fun to watch. |

Re: ***Official 2007 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS THREAD ***
So I found myself rooting for the Raiders. It went down like this, the Niners are up 13-0, its early. Their 13 year old coach looks sad. They got no weapons, they're fumbling, penalties, you know, the Raiders, man I just felt sorry for them.
So then they put it together on this drive, Jordan looks good, they actually looked okay. I think this coach has to be pretty smart getting the job so young. They really have not much. Brady Quinn looked really good, I saw some highlights. Strong arm, stays in the pocket, good decisions. Not bad, not bad. I was playing Madden mostly during the Charger game, but I saw Sproles return and Rivers TD pass. Sproles didn't really do much his rookie year, but he looks like a new man so far. Weddle is just a football player, plain and simple. I feel stupid just posting Bolts stuff myself, so c'mon Bolts fans help me out please. Or I'll just keep posting Bolts stuff myself and feeling stupid, it never stopped me before! |
