In honor of my first REAL car being put to death tomorrow, what was your first car and what kind of quirks did yours have?
I sold my car to an auto recycler today - it will be stripped for parts, and as best as I can tell, smashed. I feel sad - am I a huge vagina or is this normal? Anyway, first cars. Go! |

1979 Chevy Luv pickup truck
150,000 miles, a working 8 track player, and 0-60mph in 32 seconds. My parents still have it at their house. I drive it on occasion when I go home, just for good ole times sake. Doesnt have the 8track player no more tho |

1979 Chevy Luv pickup truck [/ QUOTE ] That's funny. My dad had a Chevy Luv the whole time I was growing up. I'm not sure if it was a '79 or an '80. This thing had more problems than any car I've ever seen. I remember my dad telling me something about tie rods breaking or something and him tying them together. It spent the last few years of its life as a firewood transporting vehicle that never saw the road. The floor was all rusted out and you could have probably pedaled it like the Flintstones's car. |

I don't have my own car, so I borrow my dad's 11 year old ford fiesta that has 150k miles on it. I learned to drive in that car <3

When I turned 16 my dad gave me a jeep cherokee, fairly used but in good condition, he told me this was the only help Id ever get as far as cars/insurance/money etc and to take care of it, so I could wouldnt be SOL when trying to get a new car. It was a pretty good lesson I guess. One awesome thing about the car was that teh rear windshield wiper fluid dispenser was broken, and would shoot a nice 7 foot stream of washer fluid out the back of the car like james bond.

First car I drove was a 1982 Plymouth Horizon (Dodge Omni), it wasn't happy over 65, got great milage, and died when a guy hit it with a Honda Accord.
The first car I owned was a 91 Civic SI that had had the springs cut. Fun car to drive if you could tolerate the fact that you were going to put on a new muffle once a year as a given. |

[/ QUOTE ] haha i used to have a jeep cherokee as well, a '96. my rear windshield sprayer was broken too, exact same thing, and i could shoot a stream of washer fluid straight backwards a good distance. so much fun to be at a stoplight with a car behind you, the expression on peoples' faces when you spray them is priceless. or a couple times i would tell an unknowing friend to get out and get something out of my trunk and then Oops Pow Surprise! edit: here's my 1st car. 91 chevy s10, red with a white stripe down the middle. the thing was a dream.... ![]() |

Way normal.
1979 Chevy Monza. V6, but a very light car. I could actually burn rubber going into every gear but the top. Blew the head gasket and had to put her to sleep in something like '91. |
