NL50 AJ on AQJ flop
Villain is 52/33/0.95, so he was one of the reasons I was at the table. However, he was rather passive. What if villain was unknown?

Re: NL50 AJ on AQJ flop
god this spot is sick. against those numbers i would probably stick it in because he could be calling you pf with a hand like QJ. If he has the nuts thats an incredibly weird way to play it. Im kind of on the fence of calling or folding because he is playing his hand so strong but yet his stats show that his raising range preflop is so wide he can be getting funky with A8 or something like A10. Sorry for the rant

Re: NL50 AJ on AQJ flop
You need about 35% equity.
You are 40% against: { AA, QQ-JJ, AQs-AJs, QJs, AQo-AJo, QJo }. I would take QJo out of the range and you drop to 24% If you add 1/2 the AKs/o combos you are about 31.5%. You 3b pf and he CRs AI. I doubt he even shows up with AK here. [b]Looks like a fold to me |

Re: NL50 AJ on AQJ flop
How many hands was that over?
Was he min-raising all the time or raising to $2 pf usually? An AF of 1 is actually high if he has a VPIP of 50. |

Re: NL50 AJ on AQJ flop
I call fairly easily against this obviously bad player.
Might be a fold against a good TAG. |

Re: NL50 AJ on AQJ flop
Why is 3 betting such an automatic decision for most people? Every table plays different, you can't just say 'we have AJs against a loose players CO open, I 3-bet'. What's his 3-bet calling range? Does he bluff a lot postflop?
Villain here opens way too many hands, we have position on him, and he is passive postflop. Who says we are folding to a c-bet if we miss? Why can't we bluff raise? Or float and bet the turn if he checks? 3-betting pre is a bluff against most villains, so as others have said, I'd rather do it with 76s. We may even win a decnt pot if he has KJ/AT, hands he probably folds to a 3bet pre. |

It's the 2/3 times we miss with AJ is why i dont like calling primarily. I dont think hands like KQ, AJ, KJ, QJ etc play well cold calling pre flop raises. |

Re: NL50 AJ on AQJ flop
This is a redic easy 3bet preflop. We have the best hand like always, and we can 3bet for value, cos he'll call it with pretty much any 2 cards he raised with.
Also, calling preflop is certainly +EV. We have a very nice hand, in position, vs a fish, obv calling > folding preflop. It really seems like you guys are scared to play poker. IMO preflop 3beting >> calling >>>>>> folding Obv on the flop its an easy call...we have 2 pair vs a fish in a rr pot FFS |
