Default At the Cage

While this is about tipping, it's not about dealers, so hopefully it's ok to post.

I've never tipped a person at the cage. I would tip a chip runner over a person at the cage.

Though I should note that I play low limits. Maybe if I was cashing out a large amount that was somehow more difficult than "normal" but whatever.

I tipped at the cage once when I bought chips from a hot cage girl, and subsequently doubled up in 10 minutes playing craps. I cashed in to the same hot chick, told my story when she asked about the quick turnaround, and tipped her when she pretended to be interested in my good luck.

When I leave the table, I usually tip off the few odd bucks, so that my win amount is a multiple of 5 or 10. So I often have $1 to $4 left over; I usually tip the dealers 1 each (I usually play a small cardroom, they're both right there), and 1 or 2 to the cage. If I only have $1 or $2 left, I tip the cage with it, since I've already tipped the dealers during the session.

Not to go off topic, but I recently experimented with tipping each dealer at the end of their down, regardless of how I did. Didn't work out too well, because I would sometimes forget at the dealer change. I guess it would be ok once it became an ingrained habit.
