1-3 NL
We, At Horseshoe Tunica, have stopped spreading 1-2 NL in favor of 1-3 NL. The game plays just about the same. Thoughts?

Re: 1-3 NL
At the Wynn in Las Vegas they also spread a 1-3 NL in place of 1-2. I personally favor it because the game plays bigger but still attracts the lowest level of NL players. The Wynn also uses $3 chips. I do not mind it and think it speeds up the game, others however continuously complain and some of the dealers and players have trouble doing the rather simple math. Would be interested in knowing if you guys plan on implementing $3 chips or continuing with $1 and $5 or whatever you currently use.

Re: 1-3 NL
I have played the 1/3 at Wynn with $3 chips. I have also played it at Caesar's where there are $1, $2, and $5 chips generally in play.
I found in general that the players at Caesar's were less confused by large bet amounts. Chip counting also tended to be faster. Not scientific at all. |

The 1/2 NL game at HS usually played pretty entirely much with $5 chips with a few $1 chips in there. But most people just had stack/s of $5 chips with maybe 2 or 3 $1 chips leftover from previous pots that they can use for posting blinds. $3 chips aren't necessary at all. I saw the 1/3 tonight at HS but decided to go kick ass on the limit tables instead. Am wondering if perhaps the 1/3 structure could bring about just a tad more action? I didn't watch it enough to form an opinion if it's any different. I'm guessing a standard opening-raise will still be around $10. Live straddles of $6 might change that however. Also keep in mind that there is no cap on the buy-in for NL games in Tunica. So this might make it slightly different from 1/3 NL in other places although my observation has been that the 1/2 can still play pretty small even with no cap on the buy-in. most players who really want to sit with a big stack just play 2/5 instead (which often plays much bigger than a typical capped buy-in 2/5 NL game imo) |

I played the 2/5 at both yesterday, and the horseshoe game definitely played bigger. $40 raise was pretty standard PF, and even then 5-way action was not uncommon. The only complaint I had about the horseshoe game is that it is a must-move. That, and the turn card yesterday gave me some serious downside variance. |

Re: 1-3 NL
Chipr,
1/3 with 1 and 5 chips is just fine. 1/3 may make the game a bit more aggressive at times but for the most part will be about the same as 1/2 for the players. The bb may defend a little more often for two chips instead of three chips for a call of $5. Out here the Wynn has those dumb $3.00 chips in play ONLY BECAUSE THE 9/18 game could not get going. It is a pain in the tush when the dealer tells a player "32 chips to call sir" and the darn player brings out the cell phone to get to the calculator to find out how much 32 $3.00 is....... |

[/ QUOTE ] I have this idea for a new type of company. It will actually pick up packages from one company, a chip manufacturing company for instance, and transport the package and it's contents across the country to a completely different location, say perhaps even to a casino. Would you be interested in an investment like this? We could call it UPS, or even maybe FedEx Jimbo |
