Harrahs New Orleans
How are the NL games in New Orleans. I will be down there in 2 weeks and I am trying to decide on what I should play. Any advice.

Re: Harrahs New Orleans
All the 1/2 and 2/5 games are pretty good. Lately, 6+ 1/2 NL, 2 2/5 NL and maybe 1 5/10 have been running. Max buy in at 1/2 is 200 or 1/2 the big stack. 2/5 is 500 or 1/2 BS. The 5/10 and 10/25 players I've seen cruising through the lower games waiting for their game to start aren't anything to be afraid of at least when they're slumming.
Older NO players have a tendency to be more gamblers than poker players. They generally have a lot of money, lose a lot of money in all forms of gambling, and don't give a crap how much they lose. |

Are these games timed raked?

Re: Harrahs New Orleans
$6 per down time rake. Plus $1 jackpot drop per hand. Only comp is free parking. Sounds Great!

Re: Harrahs New Orleans
I was there a few months ago and played the 1/2 while waitin for the 5/10 to start. it was as any other 1/2, VERY WEAK SOFT. the 5/10 never got started so i got into a 2/5 table for like 6 hrs. it was very soft too. if u have the money for it i'd recommend the 2/5 b/c payin $6 every half hr to play 1/2 when u can play 2/5 for the same price is just ridiculous. if u can beat the 1/2 u can beat the 2/5 also.

I agree with those who say you should play the 2/5 if you can afford it. Plus I'd rather have the 1/2 game to myself.

Re: Harrahs New Orleans
Sorry for a semi-hijack, but can anyone comment on the limit games as well. What limits/games are available on a typical weekend?

Re: Harrahs New Orleans
There is a bit more interest in limit games lately, but game selection is still not great. Expect multiple 3/6 LHE with a short wait. 4/8 half LHE/half Omaha Hi has been going lately a lot. It may also run as a straight Omaha Hi. 15/30 half and half will run for sure on Sunday afternoon and maybe on Friday/Saturday. This game normally is straight Omaha Hi, but the HE jackpot is over $60K if it's not been hit so nobody wants to play straight Omaha. There have been other interests lists the last couple weeks (6/12 LHE, 15/30 LHE, maybe 10/20), but I've not seen them run much. Those lists may disappear after the JP hits, a lot of the remaining limit players prefer Omaha.

Never played it! Perhaps we'll give it a whirl I don't suppose any other casinos spread higher LHE games nearby...any chance? |
