You'll need the credit card and ID.
Bally's poker room is a railed off area next to a blackjack pit. This makes it loud, but it does pull in the tourists. Games are going to be low limit HE and small buy-in no limit hold 'em. Bonus, bar is right next to the poker tables. I have had plenty of fun playing there. |

IMO, Bally's is the soft underbelly of LV poker on the strip. Good place for a day time game. Last time I was there even the dealers were rolling their eyes over how bad people were playing 1/2 NL and 2/4 LHE.

The "rail" is a velvet rope. And yes, when you get thirsty it's just a short walk to the bar to buy your own drinks. Apparently it's a very long walk for the waitresses though, because service is very iffy.

Bally's and Paris' poker tables were where I realised that if I did what I read in GSIHE or SSHE then I could win at this game. I think that was when I heard some big doofus say "Check in the dark". |

Bellagio is across the street and easy to walk to and so is Ceasars. [/ QUOTE ] Guess it depends on your definition of "decent". If you mean "plush chairs, quiet, long lists for games, and rude staff" then no, you need to go across to Bellagio for that. If you mean "very loud and often boisterous with a nice supply of donkeys and right out almost in the middle of the casino where there's lot of rail action with friendly and competent dealers and ever-present NL1/2 games" then yes, Bally's is decent. Bally's ain't my favorite location. It's so flippin' noisey by the craps and BJ tables you often can't hear a person two seats away. It's got a velvet rope rail and railbirders often blow smoke into the "room", and if not from that direction, then from the bar. But the games are good, the staff is fine, the drinks flow freely... perfectly workable room. And a great location. Trivial walk from Bally's to Paris, Aladdin, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Caesars, Flamingo, IP, Harrah's. |

The hotel is awful, but its within walking distance to both bellagio and caesar's, which are both good poker rooms, if you are looking for bigger NL games (bellagio has pretty much everything and Caesar's has 2/5 uncapped <---awesome game and 5/10 sometimes (at least when i was there). I have played at Ballys several times.
They're standard spread is 3/6LHE and 1/2NLHE with a $300 max. On the weekends, they get 2/5 with $500 max going. It used to be all tourists, but more and more local regulars have started playing there due to both their freeroll, and their fairly well known touristy clientele. They have autoshufflers in half their tables (the front ones), and their electronic list is connected to Paris, which just opened a new room a couple weeks ago. The Paris room is accessible without ever leaving the building, through the hallway that connects the properties. They also spread 3/6 and 1/2NL with a $300 max, but they lack autoshufflers altogether (for now, they are on order). |
