Hmmmmmmmmmmm (aka PokerStars is Ri*$%@#!!)
Since moving to PokerStars I've played...
104,891 hands So, I guess I'd expect to have 477 of each pair and a 6,198 total pairs... Is this within the realm of reasonable expectation? ___1___ |

Is this within the realm of reasonable expectation? ___1___ [/ QUOTE ] I did the math real quick so now you get to see what a moron I am. I think you're right in there. Binomial distribution information is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binomial_distribution On pairs, you have a 1/17 chance of making a pair (3 cards left) so you should expect 6170 pairs. Standard dev is square root of (1/17)*(16/17)*104891 or around 70. And it looks like you're within a half a standard dev. You can do the calculations yourself on AA and stuff using that web page. Variance is n*p*(1/p) |

Re: Hmmmmmmmmmmm (aka PokerStars is Ri*$%@#!!)
Whoops I just realized that you're saying you only made 5852 pairs, which is 4 standard devs away. No, that's pretty unlikely. But its close enough that you should double-check my numbers. Are you sure that there's not some kind of filtering going on with these numbers? Could you be missing any hands at all, even walks from the blinds or something?
