Default golf in true HD

I'm actually not a golf fan at all, but one day last May or so (could have been June) I was browsing through the HD channels and I caught a Golf tournament or whatever, and it looked INCREDIBLE with the HD. I didn't mind watching it, I can appreciate someone who is a great player.

Anywho, the thing is I'm assuming that channel was VSGLF (207 here with Comcast in Philly) but now it doesn't look anywhere near as good. What is the deal here? Did they stop using HD cameras? Or was I watching a different channel back then maybe?

..Any ideas?

It's sickening how much better stuff looks in HD. I can't wait for everything to switch over.

I can't even watch sports in non-HD anymore. It really sucks.

Its usually only broadcast in HD on the weekend when one of the major networks are covering it.

On a related note, my cat is pretty shy and usually runs and hides when we have company over. She's used to playing with my golf balls when I'm practicing my putting, the HD broadcast is so clear she gets intrigued watching the golf ball on the screen then she gets freaked out when they show the golfer and runs upstairs like a bat out of hell thinking somebody is in the house.

hahah, ahh, cats. I guess it was on a major network then. In that case, I'm looking forward to the weekend :P

It's kind of lame that the GOLF channel doesn't cover it correctly.

The quality obviously depends on the station broadcasting it. Some of the networks don't have 100% HD cameras covering the course(NBC I think?) and some do(CBS). I remember reading this somewhere a while back so I'm not positive on the stations.

You MAY have it backwards. I just watched the Presidents thing in HD this weekend. Oh-My-God. Looks FANTASTIC. The lake or whatever, in the middle, the autumn ish trees. Really reminded me of home.

A lot of times golf does look worse than other sports, flipping between golf and a football game, both in HD, almost every time golf looks much fuzzier and blurrier. I don't know why that is, if there aren't enough hd cameras to shoot 18 holes so they fudge and use widescreen SD cameras or what, but I notice it too.

Even though HD does look a lot better I don't find sports to be that much more entertaining on it. Kind of like how video games these days have far better graphics yet most of them still suck.
