SSHE is the nuts!
After reading SSHE not once, not twice, but thrice, I decided to return to the felt and apply what I learned. Played some 3/6 at the Borg and owned it for 50 BBs. Parlayed that into more profits at the 10/20 game (another 26BBs). I realize that I still have some leaks in my game, but SSHE has definitely helped to improve it. I think the sections that helped most are "Protecting Your Hand" and all of the River Play chapter. Thanks guys for the great book! Look forward to reading it again, and again, and again....

Re: SSHE is the nuts!
I read this book three times and play exactly like it says to but in online games but i cant seem to win. i think online small stakes players are so much more advanced then you would find in small stakes games in the casinos. people that play online live and breath poker trust me there addicts and there very wise but in the brick and morter casinos your going to run into alot more tourist who are just playing for fun and who you can bust.

[/ QUOTE ] Thats funny, for every person who says this I can introduce them to 10 people who have played as advised by Ed Miller in SSHE and profited. Instead of blaming the book, start by looking at how you comprehend the information. I built a significant roll by playing as Ed advised in loose and passive games, or in tougher games where I have the opportunity to limp in. Post flop play is PERFECT for the low limit on-line games as well as games all the way up until the middle limits (adjustments need to be made for short handed play), and thats where your money is made. Pre flop play does need adjusting unless the table is passive, then follow Ed's advice perfectly. |

[/ QUOTE ] I assume what he is saying is that online low limit no longer plays "loose/passive" and I agree 100% (in general). Ed's book addresses specific game conditions, and while those game conditions often exist in live games, they rarely exist in online games any more (in Ed's world, 5 players to the flop is "tight"). |

It took me a while to realize that none of the online limit games I play in are as loose as the "tight" games in this book. looking right now on full tilt, the .25/.50 and .50/1 full ring games all have 2 or 3 people per flop avg. There's so much information in the book thats great, but until you figure out how to adjust to game conditions on your own (or from another sourse), this book can lose you a lot of money. I really disagree with the people that say you can read this book and be a winner as a beginner. If you play in the right games, you can, but as a beginner, you might have trouble identifying the right games. I'm still a losing player at micro-limit online limit games, but I think I'm beating B&M 3-6 and 4-8 games, probably because the game conditions match the book better. I haven't spent a lot of time lately trying to figure out how to beat the online limit games mostly because I've been learning new games (razz, O8) and playing/studying NL. I'm considering giving limit some more study when the Winning Tough Hold'em Games book comes out. |
