Default $16: Resteal or don\'t get fancy?

Villain had been conservative but not brilliant; so far he'd picked up one pot minraising with 99 preflop and checking it down afterward. This bet seemed like a curious % of his stack to commit PF, almost like a steal he wasn't willing to commit his whole stack to, and the resteal fairy started whispering sweet nothings in my ear. Ultimately, I decided that I didn't want to go to the felt with ATo, and that his 3x raise more likely was a 3x raise with a decent hand. Anybody overpush here, and if not, what range are you overpushing with?

Tough spot. I'm typically over pushing here when the raise comes from the button. However, because it is such a large percentage of his stack it is a little worrisome.

I'm not so worried about fold equity because you are still a ways away from the money. So, it comes down to whether or not you feel you are ahead of his range.

Not much of an answer for you. So, I guess that means you could probably flip a coin. Heads you push, tails you fold.

Yeah, this is a bit of an ambiguous spot against an unknown.

The worse of a player he is, the more likely I am to push, as this is a bizarre non-push for a good player.

As best I could tell, villain only bet to represent hands; he hadn't bluffed at all to that point, so I decided that I was beating KQ/KJ, a flip against a worse pair, or crushed by AJ+.

If villain pushes, do you call?

With your read I'd let it go. Also, if he pushed I would fold unless I knew he was a pushbotter.

Right. Honestly though, in playing 1000+ 16s, I think I came across maybe 1 or 2 players who ever pushed nearly loose enough.

How is this a fancy resteal when he's completely committed to the pot and has to call your push with anything?

Obviously Villain should have just open-pushed, unless he has a monster and wants it to look tempting. More likely, he doesn't really understand the 10xBB rule, so the raise amount means nothing.

I'm probably folding. I'd go to the felt with 77+, AQ+, maybe more depending on reads. I'd much rather push K8 from the SB next hand than go with AT here.

Am I the only one who thinks this guy has been playing just long enough to know that 3xBB is a standard raise but not long enough to know he should push with <10BB?

Fold I guess. Sucks though. He's got K8s.

turbomuck. he is a bad player trying to trap you with a big hand. I need JJ+ or AK.

Folding TT or AQ here would be really bad.
