Paired my ace on the river...do I raise, fold, or call?
I'm sorry if these posts are all obvious questions. I'm a bit new and still learning a lot. So here's my situation, Villain is 45.45/15.79/.64
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) MP ($24.50) CO ($23.30) Hero ($24.90) SB :#A500AF(Villain)/ ($41.05) BB ($56.95) UTG ($14.60) Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero raises to $1, SB :#A500AF(Villain)/ calls $0.90, 1 fold. I think the call is fine, what hand that you beat are you hoping to get called by if you raise?

I'd raise the river to ~7. He's probably calling you with any J given his stats.

A lot of people a uNL hit top pair on the flop, and don't get scared of overcards, just convincing themselves it's unlikely that anyone has one. |

Re: Paired my ace on the river...do I raise, fold, or call?
I think on the flop the board is very coordinated. when he check calls you can put him on a small pocket pair, a pair of jacks, hands like K8,K9,Q9 etc. the turn gets checked to the turn and he leads OOP with an Ace hitting. If you note villans aggression, .64, it looks very passive meaning he's only betting when he thinks he's good. there's no need to raise I think, villan bets 2.75 into 6 and change giving you about 3 to 1 i believe, you are justified in a call because he's a donk.

Re: Paired my ace on the river...do I raise, fold, or call?
i don't think you can fold on the river to that sized bet, and a raise won't be called enough by hands your beating, i think...i like the call
oh and by the way... [ QUOTE ] So do you think I should have raised or folded? Or was my cold call okay? [/ QUOTE ] cold call refers to when a player calls a bet and a raise from two players in front of them, so say your on the button, UTG opens the pot for a raise, UTG+1 reraises, and then you call, you would be cold calling... here, i think you're just "calling" but, honestly, i just have to much time on my hands, so i had to point it out, haha |

Re: Paired my ace on the river...do I raise, fold, or call?
I think you should have raised for value. Ace Ten, King Ten are hands I might put the villan on, my guess is Ace Ten. His fairly passive style post flop may mean he may not semi-bluff with the straight draw.

Call is very standard in this spot

Call. A .64 isn't betting with much that you beat but you can't fold. A raise has no value that I can see.
