Hand from $600 Foxwoods Poker Classic event
It's in the second hour, second level (50/100). I have about 4700 or so, about the starting stack -- I've raised a few hands and taken them down on the flop, and had to fold a few times to aggression when I missed the flop, but nothing big either way. Villain has just over 2000 or so, and he lost half of his stack about 30 minutes ago where he called flop and turn and bluffed river on a K27J7 board (KJ won he mucked). But since that hand I haven't seen him involved in any pots.
I'm OTB, villains SB. MP limps, I make it 400, villain shoves for 2250 or something, limper folds. I have A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. What's your play? |

Re: Hand from $600 Foxwoods Poker Classic event
Call. You are getting about 3-2 pot odds. There is some possibility of a restealing type hand, but villain probably has 88+, AQ+, and may have you dominated, but you have odds to call.

Re: Hand from $600 Foxwoods Poker Classic event
Blinds: 50+100 = 150
MP Limp: 100 Your Raise: 400 Villain Shoves: 2250 Pot = 2900 To call: 1850 Pot odds: 2900/1850 = 1.568:1 or 3.13:2 equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 39.458% 30.58% 09.03% 21556627 6362487.50 { AQs } Hand 1: 60.542% 51.74% 09.03% 36474892 6362487.50 { 88+, AQs+, AQo+ } 3:2 pot odds, 2:3 equity = call? The pot is giving you more than your equity. Please let me know if this is correct. I think I could find a fold here. However, if you think his range is wider, it makes it a much easier call. |

Re: Hand from $600 Foxwoods Poker Classic event
Those numbers look about right. But what about the fact that we'd be calling off 1/2 of our stack without seeing a flop w/ A hi at level two? Anybody like to find a better spot?

I think I could fold this, however, I don't think you'd be wrong if you called.
