Re: adjusting to maniacal uberlAGs in shorthanded games
preflop, u 3 bet alot to isolate his wide range if he is to ur right, call down ace high and pairs, its pretty much u just call down lighter and its more of a guessing game. These guys are profitable, just dont get out of line with bad hands and ur fine. Money Money MONey

someone wise suggested when playing with a maniac that you don't concentrate on them but on the rest of the table.

Re: adjusting to maniacal uberlAGs in shorthanded games
Isolate with A-hi, better K-hi hands, pocket pairs.
Calldown with A-hi usually, better K-hi hands sometimes, and pairs usually. Go balls to the walls with top pair, some midpairs, and anything better. Call with most draws, raise with some draws where you have A-his. Raise when you hit of course. |

I playing a 72/40/2.4 Guy atm who loves to cap with 95s 56o etc what are the general adjustments preflop as postflop? hes sitting to my right [/ QUOTE ] its a tough problem, as my preferred style tends towards LAG as well...i suggest re-reading Sklansky's Hold Em for Advance Players...i had to do that for my home game to stop the bleeding at your table is there only one Aggro LAG, or are their others? this situation is a not exactly my experience, i am more familar playing with a loose passive surrounded by tight aggressive trickies...i came to this strategy to after dropping a couple of $k in a home game over a few sessions and making the loose passive into a winner by trying to isolate and push him out postflop...perhaps the concepts will apply to your villain who seems to be a single source of the problems i've faced abeit from mutiple players at the table... if the table is aggressive pre-flop and the pot is routinely raised or 3bet i have adjusted to play only the top 3 groups of hands per Sklansky HPFAP...i am not too worried about isolating the LAG (although i may consider it if i am at HJ or later)...i figure the others at the table will respect me and any the other tight player that wants to get into the pot with the LAG also, post flop i tighten up on raising the LAG unless i am sure i have the best of it...LAG will not be pushed out by your betting...no bluff equity for you...but your premium holdings will get called or even re-raised...so be patient, check-call, then check-raise when you have it... since going to this tighter strat, i've been able to recover about 2/3's of my loss over 4 sessions at the home game...i am still grinding; btw, the loose passive has been the big loser in the 4 sessions, although he has gone up in a couple of those 4, he winds up giving back his winnings and quite a bit of his buyin... hope this helps...i welcome comments by others |
