Default Banning shortstackers

Are we banning forum members because they shortstack?

It certainly appears that is what is going on in the fullring forum.

No. There have been three bans in that thread. All were banned for trolling. Two of the three are not regular posters in the forum and were only posting to troll.

If I was banning short-stackers, I would have also banned MyTurn2Raise and CalledDownLight who are both well respected regulars who short stack and both of whom posted in that thread.

Well, one of them still is well respected.

BTW - They're 24hr tempbans. Somebody get them a tissue.

The shortstackers troll pretty much every thread that shortstacking is mentioned in. Normally it's just kind of annoying and not a big deal. It seems a bit out of line for them to be doing it in a serious strat discussion though. That said, banning them still seems too harsh.

some comments:

a) yes, the post i got banned for was slightly trollish. but it wasn't any more trollish than hundreds, if not thousands of daily posts that go unpunished on 2+2 (and i'm not only talking about BBV). had i realized FRNL is run by such a trigger happy dictator, i wouldn't have bothered to post. i wouldn't risk a 24 hour ban from 2+2 for that. but you can ban me from that forum if you want, i have no desire to contribute there anymore.

b) my posts were significantly less trollish than MT2R's posts. banning me and not him from all of 2+2 because i'm not a "regular" in your FRNL forum is stupid. i'm a regular in all the shortstacking/ratholing threads on 2+2. whether the thread happens to be in FRNL or another forum, it really shouldn't matter.

c) had you not been immediately offended by my post and paid attention to the content, you would have realized it was one of the more valuable posts in the thread. the OP contains several glaring errors and overall displays an extremely simplistic understanding of the game. i'm sure some of the regulars there would benefit from reading/studying the post, but it's far from a comprehensive guide to neutralizing a shortstacker's edge.

i also pointed out that it's a fairly good guide for the shortstackers for understanding how to play against fullstacks with a shallow understanding of shortstack strategy. i probably said it in a somewhat condescending manner. that's probably why i got banned - i hurt CMAR's feelings. but my point is valid, and anyone with an advanced understanding of shortstack play would agree.

i'm almost certain the insights in the post will be at least as useful to intelligent shortstackers as they will be to fullstackers who play bad. any intelligent fullstacker who has analyzed shortstack strategy at all will gain nothing from the post. imo the post belongs in microstakes or small stakes, not the full ring forum.

disclaimer: this is not a troll, this is my honest assessment. and i really shouldn't even be giving away this advice, as i gain nothing from it and risk getting banned again.

stinky, what did you say? and why was it "one of the more valuable posts in the thread"?
