Looking up last few years of prices in real estate. What do i look up?
What exactly do I need to look up if I am trying to find out what has happened to the real estate prices in my area for the last few years. Is that called something? Also, if there is any prediction for certain areas for the next few years on whether predictions are prices will go up or down. Cant figure out what to search Google for.

Re: Looking up last few years of prices in real estate. What do i look
search future market real estate and check out some links. I know ppl trade average future home prices in the biggest american cities. That would be the best guess as to where prices are going in the future

Find your local Board of Realtors website. It should have plenty of info. If not, call the B of R and ask them, they track all that information.

Re: Looking up last few years of prices in real estate. What do i look
Sounds like you're interested in a very targeted local price history rather than a major metro area, in which case you might be better off looking through something like Domania:
http://domania.com/homepricecheck/se...ress=&CSZ= Just enter an address that roughly corresponds to the center of your desired target area and select the "homes in this neighborhood" option. FYI, the "fuzzy logic" Domania uses to determine what constitutes a "neighborhood" is sketchy at best, so you'll be best off in this case if you can narrow it to street level (if possible). Mook |

If you are talking about some kind of index, Case-Shiller S&P index is best if it covers your city (they do 20 cities I believe). OFHEO's index is next best and covers every MSA.
If you want to see actual sales of specific addresses, keywords to google might be: property sales, assessment, home prices, real estate. Key is to look for it for your specific county. |
