Las Vegas vs Los Angeles Poker
I apologize in advance if this is not the appropriate place for this post but it seems like the place to get the most responses. I currently play poker professionally in LA and I would like to gain valuable opinions as to whether it would be more profitable to play in Los Angeles or Las Vegas. I would love to hear details about game quality, quality of competition, game availability, etc.. I would love to hear from posters in both cities. Thanks

Re: Las Vegas vs Los Angeles Poker
i think the limit games from 20-40 to 40-80 are much better in LA than vegas and I have played in both places recently.

Re: Las Vegas vs Los Angeles Poker
Onling is FAR superior to live. As far as LA vs. Vegas, no idea, never played in L.A. As far as Vegas goes, people there are IDIOTS. The 10/20 NL plays like a .5/1 NL online.

[/ QUOTE ] Hey, I dont understand your post. If 10/20 plays like .5/1 (which it doesnt) then obviously live is far superior, eh? |

Re: Las Vegas vs Los Angeles Poker
vegas games are jucier than LA games...especially at mid limit NO LIMIT cash games (2/5 up to 10/20NL)

Also factor that Nevada has no state taxes, California just about the highest.

Re: Las Vegas vs Los Angeles Poker
the 2 times I played in vegas I noticed that the players were not taking the game at all seriously. Some were drinking. Others were just not accustomed to playing poker because there are no casinos where they live. players in california tend to know how to read the board.
I usually play 6/12 and 4/8 live though so I can't tell you about how other games play though. |

Re: Las Vegas vs Los Angeles Poker
Cost of living is much higher in LA. I think the rake is, too. Depending on the limit.
The 6-12 at Commerce/Bike was raking 5 bucks a hand when I was there 2 years ago! In Vegas the rake is a percentage of the pot, up to a max. In California size of the pot doesn't matter. In LA, if you play 15-30 and higher though, I believe you pay time. Time = cheaper. |
