Be Careful What You Wish For...(PLO8)
Sometimes the card you want hits and it sucks. This hand made me think quite a bit so I figure I should post it for discussion.

Re: Be Careful What You Wish For...(PLO8)
Call, you have nut-low and nut str8. It's a shot to 3/4 the players. You could be 1/3'd for the low if one player has the flush and all have the low.
120/2 = 60 high & 60 for low at worst you get back 20 on the 30 call. At best you get $80 if you pick off a nutlow bluff. I think the call is worthwhile because you get to see or read on how the other players are playing. It's information that could be useful as the game progresses. It also shows/indicates that you are not bluffable. |

Have you realised that he is probably facing a 120 bet on the river?

Tough one. This is somewhat player dependent but I probably toss this on the turn. I seem to get 1/6 in this spot way more than I ever get 4/6.

Re: Be Careful What You Wish For...(PLO8)
if you had raised this flop, you'd have a good chance of folding out baby flush draws. as played a non-nut flush might not be folding at all.
also, the pot is still small on the turn, so it's a reasonable time to get out. |

[/ QUOTE ] This is the same thing I thought when reading the OP. Another benefit of raising is that A-2 with spades may re-raise, which would be a sign that you are in big trouble and would make it easier to get out cheap. |

Re: Be Careful What You Wish For...(PLO8)
Ok you guys are right with the whole raise the flop idea. I should have done that and then made my decision. I just saw the small bet and thought ill take a shot at the 3 outer and then jam them if the turn and river blank. I was just trying to get to the river with the nuts for cheap so I could jam them then. I like the flop raise more though. Never thought about that idea.
I ended up calling like a donkey. One guy had A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] He was the one betting. The other guy calling reraised a small river bet with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |
