In the clincher the manager pulled the starter after an 8 inning perfect game. It was 1-0 at the time, but that's still pretty sick. The starter's name was Yamai, which actually means "sick", different characters though. In any case the closer threw a perfect ninth and they closed out the Nippon Ham Fighters in 5.
Fukudome was hurt for part of this year, wonder if we see see him in the states soon. |

There was some concern that Fukudome wouldn't be able to play in enough games to gain enough service time to jump over to the States. Did he get through the injuries enough to become a free agent?

There was some crazy loophole based on playing a lot last year that let him out. So he will be a FA and will probably play here next year. Should be a nice above-average RF for some team.
