Trips facing a nit c/r
BB is 16/11 over decent sample. Plays decent enough postflop. SB is a huge fish, and BB probably knows this. I'm about 22/19 at this table and have been aggro post, but haven't had to show anything down.
Full Tilt Poker, $1/$2 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players LegoPoker Hand History Converter BB: $251.85 UTG: $200 MP: $285.65 CO: $48.55 Hero (BTN): $221.15 SB: $218.80 Pre-Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BTN) 3 folds, Hero raises to $7, SB calls $6, BB calls $5 Flop: ($21) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 Players) SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $17, SB calls $17, BB raises to $64, Hero? |

Re: Trips facing a nit c/r
It would be a much tougher spot if it were HU. I think you can pretty safely fold with the SB in there.
If it were HU, I prob call once at most. |

Re: Trips facing a nit c/r
I like a shove here. While AJ/J9/99 are certainly in his range, his raise seems both suspicious in size, and like an odd way to play a Jack 3 way.
From his point of view, a shove could very well be you trying to protect an overpair / two overs with the FD / and I think he talks himself into a call here with hands you beat. |

He isn't going to have worse jacks, and I think if we shove and get called, we're only beating combo draws. |

Re: Trips facing a nit c/r
I think draws are a decent part of his range really - a lot moreso than the case jack mathematically. I assume that 'he plays pretty well post flop' means that he's able to use his nit image when he believes it to be +EV, and this seems like a reasonable spot to make a play with air/draws/some PPs.
Yeah, you're obv. crushed if behind here, however I'm willing to stack off 110 bbs in a spot like this and watch him call as he's priced in with Ax [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] |

Do you think nits are really capable of using their image to their advantage often enough here? Care to show a stove calc saying a shove is +EV? |
