ATs makes middle pair
I had not been at this table for very long and so did not really have any good reads, when I played this hand.
PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero calls, MP1 calls, 1 fold, CO calls, 1 fold, SB completes, BB checks. Flop: (5 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, BB checks, Hero...? With 2 players yet to act after me on a co-ordinated flop, was this a pretty standard flop bet with MPTK ? |

Re: ATs makes middle pair

Re: ATs makes middle pair
Is checking horribly weak and if so why? Thanks for anyone who feels like explaining this.

Re: ATs makes middle pair
Pretty easy raise preflop, and another easy flop bet. You've got the club draw out there, bet out and you'll get one or two callers hopefully with a flush draw, increasing pot size and obviously more $$ for you.
Without your raise preflop, you have just callers, meaning nobody has real strength here. A jack is very possible, but I doubt it'd be anything higher than J9 and with any over card on the turn/river you would be able to move them out. Checking isn't really incredibly weak, but I think it is weak. You're just leaving the door open for the flush draw and any K Q as well. |

Re: ATs makes middle pair
thanks J, that makes sense, especially when the consideration of bluffing a K or Q comes in, you can't do it if you check.

Re: ATs makes middle pair
raise preflop, bet flop..bet flop even as played

Re: ATs makes middle pair
Well, maybe not at 0.5/1, but I usually give advice on poker in general, without taking notice of the limits. But I suppose you're right, chances are they would call.
