ASKme about being vegan
the vegetarian thread made me realize that some people are curious about this topic. here is an ASKme thread for you to find the answers to those insomnia-inducing questions like 1) do vegans have carnal knowledge? 2) are vegans, generally, better looking than salad-dodgers? 3) do vegans appreciate threadcat? etc. general queries about vegetarianism are fine, as well.

Why? [/ QUOTE ] i was raised vegetarian, so i've never known the other side. seven or so years ago, i attended a lecture by dr. neal barnard (zomg, he's tossing an apple! will he catch it?!? will he?!?): i was amazed to learn how harmful animal protein was to our bodies. it was shocking all of the diseases and medical conditions linked to meat-eating. all of my life, i was under the impression that my diet was healthy, as a vegeatarian, but suddenly i realized that i wasn't doing much better than the steak & ribs crowd. i decided to become vegan and haven't looked back since. |

typical daily diet? [/ QUOTE ] breakfast: organic dried cereal with as much fruit as possible. generally, fresh banana, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and peaches/nectarines. lunch: almost always leftovers from supper. supper: a variety of steamed vegetables (squash, yams, potatoes, spinach) fresh mixed greens with tomatoes and then i prepare some sort of sauce which usually begins with sautéing onions and garlic in tomato and building it up from there. |

[/ QUOTE ] Next Monday, I am embarking on a diet to lose 30 lbs by Thanksgiving. People who tell me that's impossible or unhealthy have no idea how bad my intake is, from really unhealthy food all the time to lots of booze and beer. That said, life is too short for me to eat the way you do, that just doesn't sound fun at all. I mean, I guess over the course of years I could get myself used to eating those sorts of things but yikes, not today. Good thread though, you are not annoying. |

Re: ASKme about being vegan
OK I have to ask. I know I could look it up but I would rather find out here. What is the difference between Vegan and Vegetarian??? I always assumed they were the same thing and just didn't care enough to look any further.
I would also ask "Why"? |

[/ QUOTE ] vegetarians don't eat flesh, but still consume animal products, such as, milk, cheese, eggs, etc. vegans abstain from all animal products. basically, vegans are just stricter vegetarians. |
