6max: folded TPTK want to understand theory
Villian is 12/8/2.5

Final Pot: $7.95 I think this is a pretty standard fold considering his pfr range. He probably has AA, KK or QQ. The thing that confused me was how I should of played the hand. By raising with TPTK I essentially made the hand the same as 34o. If it was just a continuation or feeler bet he wouldn't call with AK,JJ,TT. And I doubt there are many more hands he would have re raised me with. So obviously I get no value out re raising on the flop. I have had several situations similar to this were I raise for information but am losing a lot of value on the hand. Thanks. |

Re: 6max: folded TPTK want to understand theory
fold preflop vs a 12/8
As played you have position so just call the flop, position gives you information anyways. IE, unless you think he's betting two streets with AK or JJ, you can call flop and then fold to a turn bet without wasting another 2$ You are right about the raise turning your hand into a bluff. That's what an "information raise" is by definition, because you're folding out worse hands and taking the pot down, but you only get action from hands you're way behind and can safely fold. You don't make information raises for value, you make them for information |

Re: 6max: folded TPTK want to understand theory
On this board, I like the idea of calling and folding to a turn bet. I don't think Ak or JJ is betting two streets without connecting here.

Re: 6max: folded TPTK want to understand theory
If you want to raise his flop bet let it be to at least $4.5. If you don't want to put in that much, then don't raise.
You may want to call now and get it in on a Q/A/spade turn. Also: Text results appended to pokerstove.txt 18,810 games 0.005 secs 3,762,000 games/sec Board: 2c 6s Qd Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 60.303% 60.30% 00.00% 11343 0.00 { JJ+, 66 } Hand 1: 39.697% 39.70% 00.00% 7467 0.00 { AsQs } And I think this range is extremely tight here, as villain minraised you pf, so you're priced to call for your remaining $5. |

Re: 6max: folded TPTK want to understand theory
As for me - this is clear fold preflop. Villain is 8% preflop raise, so what range he coud reraise you out of position ? How do you think? AA, KK, QQ, may be AK and JJ. Thou you have one ace and one queen, he could have:
AA - 3 times KK - 6 times QQ - 3 times JJ - 6 times AK - 12 times (or something close to it) With this range you are flip coin only to JJ, to AK villain is 70% favourite, to AA - 90%, to KK - 70% - so if you will get lucky, you are flip coin. Is it worth to try? No, so fold preflop. |
