3/6 - turning great bluffcatcher into bluff?
I talked about this hand with cbboy and we had different opinions:
Villain is unpossiblational, probably 2+2 and running 18/15 and pretty aggro (infinite, but thats due to the low number of hands ofc) over 300 hands by now. I'm not 3betting this pf cause I only had some 80 hands at that time and I was not sure how his range for opening the CO looks like. Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $3/$6 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) SB: $620.00 Hero (BB): $627.00 UTG: $899.00 CO: $734.00 BTN: $120.00 Preflop: Hero is dealt J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 Players) UTG folds, CO raises to $22.00, 2 folds, Hero calls $16.00 Flop: ($47) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero checks, CO bets $35.00, Hero raises to $120.00, CO raises to $287.00, Hero calls $167.00 Turn: ($621) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets all-in for $318.00 Allright. Heres my thinking: I felt like I was behind on the flop and that is obv the matter for discussion. Sticking to my feeling i thought shoving blank turns showed way more FE than 4betshoving the flop. Cbboy strongly disagress and says a 3bet here is almost always a bluff and that by turning my TPTK into a bluff i lost a lot of value. Is c/c turn indeed superior? Is villain bluffing here a lot or do I fold out better hands on the turn from time to time? Is a thinking tag never 3betting with QQ-AA here? Do you agree that pushing the turn shows more FE against named overpairs than just 4betpushing the flop? |

Re: 3/6 - turning great bluffcatcher into bluff?
Whaaaa? You think he has QQ+ and will fold to your turn shove? wtf. I don't particularly like the flop check-raise. I definitely don't like calling the 3bet hoping to take it away with a half pot shove on the turn. Also, why does cbboy think this flop 3bet is always a bluff? Its a pretty wet board, he needs to protect his made hands and he has little reason to think you're bluffing.

Dont like it, if he folded it was because he 3 towned the flop with air.

Re: 3/6 - turning great bluffcatcher into bluff?
Jay,
This isn't that wet of a board. I just feel like he is bluffing here when he 3-bets the flop. Is he really going to be 3-betting QQ-AA here? AJ? I feel that if he has like KK here he would just call the flop and get it in on the turn. I also don't like he flop c/r too much. I think he may fold QQ to the turn shove here sometimes. I know I have said this before, but I don't like how you turned the TPTK into a bluff here. |

Re: 3/6 - turning great bluffcatcher into bluff?
Since when is 79J not considered wet? Just because it doesn't have a flush draw? This flop hit a million hands in both players range. I don't think it's atall unreasonable for villain to 3bet an overpair here if he's not planning on ever folding it.

Re: 3/6 - turning great bluffcatcher into bluff?
Jay,
I thought the flop was J95r not J97. My bad. US, I think what I was trying to say is that we make worse hands fold (KJ, QJ, etc) and only really get called by a better. QQ *MIGHT* fold sometimes on the turn. I really don't like how you played this. I think a c/c on the turn is better than a push.... |
