A fair price for this web design?
I spoke with a web design/developer company. They designed this website http://www.auburngroup.net/ and said they can build a website for me using the same design, for a $100/page (if I provide the content). I know so little about web design that I have no clue if this is a fair price or total ripoff.

How many pages were you looking to have made? It depends.

Re: A fair price for this web design?
This is a very simple website - once they make the main template, they are basically just copying & pasting your text in.
The only moderately techy things on the site are the flash animation and the drop-down nav bars. I'd shoot for < $500 for the complete project. |

Yes, because they only have to make the main template. Like z28dreams said, it's just copy & paste after that.

Re: A fair price for this web design?
This is probably 200 an hour for who ever is doing the work which may be a little high, you'd have to call some other people and see what the rates are. How often are you going to be updating the content on this site? Do you or someone involved in the site have the ability to update the content? If so offer them $75 an hour for it. If not see how many content updates you can get for thrown into the contract. Then get it actually written down somewhere.

If you find a quality outsource developer you should be paying closer to $20-$25 an hour. This is strictly HTML/CSS layout - there's no actual real coding involved. This project is all about finding someone who has a capable graphics/layout team. To me, this is more like a 15-20 hour project @ $20-$25 an hour. (and that's giving a LOT of overhead if they have templates already made). To compare, for just layout/design, a guy I know just quoted me $100 for the first page, $20 for each additional page. |

Re: A fair price for this web design?
Are they doing the flash animation for the site too? if so $100 a page is very reasonable. You probably could get it cheaper if you know the right dorks to look for.
