Best way to build bankroll?
Hey i'm new here. Ive been trying to build a bankroll on stars and need pointers on how to get the ball rolling.
I have about a 500 dollar roll and have been playing 4/180s and 5 dollar mtts. Is this the best way to build a roll or are there better ways? I want to be a Tournament only player and I heard some people talk about playing satelites for T$. Can anyone give me some tips so I can robusto like all of you? |

Re: Best way to build bankroll?
Wouldn't be a bad idea to take the occasional shot at a $10/180, and also taking shots at the $8.80/36 Double shootouts to the $215.

Re: Best way to build bankroll?
Well double shootouts are better for SNG players, but if that's something you enjoy/are good at then I'm sure they're really soft. You're doing what you should be, just have to grind it out for awhile. It's hard to beat the 4/180s (in terms of good tourneys to play,) they're just so soft and always available. You can take a few shots at the 10/180s, but make sure you don't go overboard because you really aren't rolled for them yet. There's a few more decent players in the 10s but there's still an abundance of soft spots.

best way to build a bankroll? Win your coinflips...
Seriously - you want to play MTTs, with your bankroll you should play: - $4/180's - $5/45's (regular speed) - $6/45's (if you like turbos) - $5 MTTs - $3.50 Triple Shootout Sats to Sunday Mil Take occasional shots at: - $10/180's - $3r MTTs - $3r sats to Sunday Mil - $11.70 Double Shootout sats to Sunday Mil - $8.80 Double Shootout sats to Sunday Mil Mixing in some cash - NL50 / NL25 - is good too... especially if you run into a bad spot in tourneys. Nice to mix 'em up. You'll get a lot of advice saying "go play the sunday mil sats", but as much as they are soft, the variance can be high, and they represent a fairly large chunk of your BR. A 10 tourney downswing could cripple you... And my advice is also to avoid the $2 triple shootouts to the mil - they are turbo 6 max, paying 2 seats. I like the $3 regular speed one - they pay (usually) more seats, and the fact that it's not a turbo makes it easier to beat... (with the triple shootouts, having to finish 1st twice in a row in turbo crap-shoots is difficult...) Just my $0.02... OT |

Re: Best way to build bankroll?
re-reading my post, with a $500 BR, you should be taking my advice, but when I say take the occasional shot, I mean 'occasional'... You are not rolled for $10 tourneys...
Also - stick with NL25 if you're gonna play cash. You need about a grand for NL50... OT |

Re: Best way to build bankroll?
Whatever you choose to do, you should make the frequency of the shots you take (e.g. $10 rather than your usual $5) a function of you bankroll.
For example, if you decide you need a $500 roll for $5 MTTs and a $1000 roll for $10 MTTs then once you have a $750 roll you can play half $5 and half $10. |

Re: Best way to build bankroll?
If you can win heads up matches the $5 and $10 ones are often filled with terrible players and, therefore, very easy to beat.
