Re: 3/6 - So You Think Your Sexy?
I bet the turn for value against a donk, and probably check behind on river unimproved, unless you think he's bad enough to pay off a third bet with a worse hand. I don't think pot control is too important in this hand, you have a hand fairly easy to get away from against this type of opponent. Unless you think he might check-raise the turn with a hand like Q7?

I agree with Moogle. I bet turn here almost always and often check behind river.
As played I fold, a 5 is very possible in his range and same with the BD flush. |

Re: 3/6 - So You Think Your Sexy?
Betting the turn definitely has its merits. I will get close to the same value as a river bet, but I charge any new found draws. I checked behind because I do that when I miss the flop as well in this spot and I will fold to a river bet. Obviously, this induces a fair amount of river bets, yadayada...standard stuff. Betting the turn may have been better here.
Regarding the river, this is a pretty standard fold. My problem here is that I had a really hard time believing that a 40/20/2.6 donk doesn't lead the river when he hits any of the hands that now beat me. What is more likely here? 1) Villain is C/R bluffing an obvious value bet on a scare card 2) Villain went for a value C/R after I checked behind on the turn and a scare card fell I felt like #1 was more likely. |

Re: 3/6 - So You Think Your Sexy?
Given the way the hand played out i like the rivercall against some particular donks/fish whatever. Some donks do have a natural 'feel' for what seems weakness or a potential bluff on their opponents part.
However, because of their lack in experience and possession of solid pokerfundemantels (obv. they wouldn't know about something like potcontrol with toppair in this situation) they tend only to respond in an emotional manner, hence grossly attacking these borderline-and-under moments of weakness with a lot of spew. If the opponent fits more or less into this catagory i like the call. |
